Two weeks ago I had a few high school teenage boys express how "old" I am. We have a 16 year old who works part time for us and one day he was telling us how his parents should really buy him a Mustang while he's still in his "prime" years. I chuckled and asked him what exactly the prime years of life were. His response was 15 to 21!!!!
The very next day our paper boy was trying to make small chat with me I guess...I'd say he was 14 to 16 somewhere in there. Anywho he asked me how old I was...like 21 or something and I said no I'm 26. His response "You look really good for your age"!!!
I still remember being that young I mean seriously I've only been out of high school for coming up on 9 years. I don't remember thinking that 20's were old though! I feel like I'm still an adolescent besides the fact that I'm a mom and wife and I have a mortgage and other bills to pay every month. I still feel like I'm in the learning years.
Who are we to decided what is "old"? I think we only as "old" as we let ourselves be. My dad just turned 50 this January and the man acts younger than a lot of guys I know in their 20's and 30's and I love him for that.
So to those teenage boys who think they're in their primes I say "You haven't even started living yet"!!!

Miss Tiffany The not so much home-maker
Tonight as I was cooking a whole bone in ham for the first time I was thinking back to 8 years ago when Rocky and I moved in together and I didn't know how to cook a thing. Even now I'm not the best cook but I am way more experimental. I can come up with some time of dish most of the time when I have forgotten to prepare a menu. Sometime's it's just a "Tiffany Surprise" as I like to tell Rocky when he asks me whats for dinner and I have no clue as to how it really will turn out.
Since the beginning of the year I have finally branched out to try and cook those holiday meats. I cooked my first turkey on New Year's Day and my first ham tonight. For some reason I had in my mind that both of these pieces of meat would be hard to prepare. But I now realize that they're not hard but just time consuming!
Where am I going with all of this you ask...well I just wanted to share this recipe that we love. Now this is the most unhealthy recipe I could give you but it's oh so good.
Enchilada Casserole
2lbs of hamburger or ground turkey
1 Onion diced
1 Green Pepper Diced
1 bag of Doritos
1 lb of Velveeta Cheese cubed
1 can cream of mushroom (I use celery too just depends on what I have on hand)
1 can tomato soup
1 can of Rotel
1 pkg of taco seasoning
Heat Oven to 350. Brown hamburger and cook in the onion and green pepper...at the same time combine soups and warm on the stove. Take Doritos and crush them up and line them on the bottom of a 9 x 13 glass dish or cake pan. Drain hamburger mix and put on top of the Doritos...sprinkle half of the taco seasoning on top...then add the cubed Velveeta...pour the soups on top of that and then add another layer of crushed Dorito's.
Put in a the over and heat until cheese is melted and tops of the Doritos are browned.
Again...nothing healthy about this one but very tasty and always tastes better as left overs.
Enjoy!

This Valentine's Day was Zonkers!!!
What a lovely Valentine's weekend it was! Have I ever mentioned how much I love my boys! They're amazing!!!!
Saturday morning Dalton comes out of his bedroom and Rocky tells him to go get my v-day gift which he had hidden himself in his closet ( I didn't peek I promise). He crawls up on our bed and pulls out this teddy bear that has this light on it pushes the button the song "Hey There Delilah" From the Plain White T's starts playing the Chorus and Dalton starts singing..."Oh...It's What you do to me...you could tell he had listened to it a few hours! That was the best gift right there!! Rocky told me that had stood at the store and played every stinkin' singing animal they had for about two hours before picking this one. Oh yeah the light read...I Love you...You're the Greatest.
Then we went to visit my sister and niece. They were doing lovely...lil Aleah looks like an angel. Stupid me forgot the camera but you should have seen Dalton kiss her little head. I think they are going to be great close cousins. <3
Then we took lil man to Zonkers! Ever been there? Kind of like Chuck E. Cheese and in our area Worlds of Fun combined if that makes any sense of all. It was our first time but Dalton had a blast. I'm not sure why but we started with the big kid rides and went down from there. Him and I rode the roller coaster and I must say the boy has his mommy's love for adventure rides. The think we pretty fast and he just laughed and giggled the whole time.
Fun was definetly had by all! Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day too!

A baby Story-Aleah Marie
Yesterday something amazing happened. My sister became a mother! And I got to witness the birth of my amazing lil niece! Wow! And at that moment I was reminded of how awesome God truly is.

The story began at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday February 9th...and the 2nd chapter hit at 2:08 p.m. when a beautiful little girl with a head full of thick hair came into the world weight 7 lbs 9 oz and 19 1/2 inches long.
I was with my sister from 3:45 a.m. all the way through the delivery and let me tell you...I was just as proud being there for her and with her as I was the day Dalton was born. It was so cool to be on the coaching side instead of the pushing side. As you could imagine I shed just about as many tears too.
I had no idea what to expect considering my labor and delivery was faster than it takes most people to shower...blow dry their hair...straighten or curl put make up on AND drive to work. But I knew that when my sister said a few months back that she wanted me there I had to bring my strong game.
My sister was amazing...she was so strong when you could tell she just wanted to let the pain take over her! She even kept a since of humor during the roughest contractions and in between pushes. I hated seeing her in pain...it hurt me so badly. Every time the doctor told her to hold her breath and push I held my breath.
Welcome to the world Aleah Marie...you have an amazing mommy! I am so proud of my two favorite gals!!! Thanks sis for allowing me to be apart of it all.
Babies change your world...they remind you what life is all about! Go kiss those babies good night...no matter how old they are!

The Dalton Times
I just haven't had time to think of blogging material this week so I will leave you with a few about my lil man.
Monday~At the gym in the bathroom...I'm changing clothes no daycare person so he's with me. We go into a bathroom stall and it kind of smelly from the previous occupant. Dalton puts his hands over his nose...
D-"Mommy it's stinky"
Me-"I know honey just cover your nose"
D-"I can't it stinks"
Me-"I'm hurrying buddy"
Then he proceeds to open the stall door and show everyone exactly what his mommy looks like in a sports bra and undies.
This Morning~I'm in the Kitchen making coffee (yes I'm drinking it again) he comes out and I tell him to go potty and wash his hands before breakfast. He walks back into the kitchen with pants around his ankles...
D-"I did this spish...spish...spish..."
Me-"So does that mean there is a mess"
D-I peed on the wall and the floor and the trashcan"
His father really needs to teach him to aim better!!!
The joys of living with two men who get sidetracked while using the bathroom :(

Okay...about the Octuplets
So I've been debating posting anything about the California Octuplets if you live in a hole and haven't heard this story click here. Anyways...I am going to make this brief because I'm not real big on posting my opinions about hot topic political type stuff...However this really strikes a nerve with me.
As a parents Rocky and I have come to the conclusion that quite possibly we will have only one child. Why because we are trying to live responsibly without going into a ton of debt...or living off of assistance from the government or having to ask our parents to lend a hand. We want to be able to give our child every thing he needs and still be able to put money away for our retirement. Boring I know but I think it's responsible...I would love nothing more than another child...right now it just doesn't work with our budget.
First lets talk about the government assistance...I'm all for the government helping people who are really down on their luck...I don't mind some of my tax dollars going to help these people as they get back on their feet but I think they should be held accountable and show they are trying. I DO NOT support people decided to quit their jobs to stay at home when they can't afford it and just decide to live off of the government. I think that's very irresponsible.
Okay secondly to put her parents in that position...to be an unwed parent to 14 children that she honestly can't afford to raise without the tax dollars from the rest of us. Hello so many people got mad at the Gosslins when they had their six but as far as I can tell they can afford all 8 of those babies. But I guess after her book deal and movie deal and whatever else she probably will...but that doesn't mean its right...what about all the time it takes to raise that many children.
And most of all I think it's totally unfair to families that can not get pregnant that have been trying so hard to have just one baby of their own and nothing works! It's just not fair! I think it's completely unfair!!!
Okay...flame away at me. Just my stance...It's not fair that some people take advantage of their ability to have children when so many others never have their opportunity.

House Chores...Why do I hate them sooo much?
Seriously if my house is a mess or dirty I feel like the walls are closing in on me and I start to loose concentration and the only way to get the mess clean is by turning up one of my fav CD's and just going to work.
My least favorite chores are: laundry, emptying the dishwasher, mopping, any cleaning in the bathroom, vacuuming, dusting, ok...so I hate it all!!!
The one and only thing I enjoy is folding Dalton's clothes...always have and will until he starts getting bigger. I just love folding his tiny little socks...lil boy whitey tighties...jeans and hanging up those tiny lil shirts. Yes he's three and his clothes are getting bigger but not too big. I mean the kid wears everything from 18 mths to 3 T. I kind of miss those baby days when we would go through 4 outfits or more a day...it was relaxing just to sit on the couch and fold his little laundry.
So if you would like to volunteer to clean my house (because I have no money to pay for such a service) please...come on over...but stay away from my baby's clothes!
